NEW DELHI: Summer placements are an indicator of the final placements and Faculty of Management Studies' summer placements has been an impressive one with the highest package for the two-month internships standing at Rs 5 lakh this year. Among the highlights is that 36 new companies visited the campus and in all 90 companies made summer placements offers to the batch of 210 students student in the recently concluded exercise.
Despite the uncertain economic environment, 170 companies across sector confirmed their participation of which 95 participated. Moreover, the summer placements this year saw 36 new companies participating, which is 40% of the total number of companies making final offers.
Sector wise sales and marketing topped the list with 39% of the offers, followed by finance and consulting, general management and strategy with 29% and 23% respectively.
Close to one-fourth of the batch opted for consulting/ general management/ strategy roles across various trusted brands in the industry. TATA Administrative Services (TAS) continued its relationship with FMS by making 6 offers. Meanwhile, despite the unfavourable conditions in the banking and financial sector, FMS managed to successfully place close to a third of the batch in finance profiles across various roles. Morgan Stanley hired from FMS for the first time for its Front End Investment Banking profile.
But it is the marketing profile which remained the preferred choice with close to 40% of the batch showed their preference in interning in Sales and Marketing profiles.
According to the placement team, the robust summer placement indicates that the final placement to follow promises equally good final placements.
