150 new posts of judicial officers

NEW DELHI: Delhi government on Monday cleared the proposal to create 150 new posts for judicial officers to expedite the justice delivery system. The cabinet has also cleared a proposal to create 1,085 new posts for judicial officers and supporting staff.

Of the 150, 50 posts will be for higher judicial services like judges of sessions and district court rank. The remaining 100 posts will be for metropolitan magistrates. 1,085 posts will be for support staff. The proposal will mean an extra expense of Rs 22.75 crore per annum for the government.

"The posts were necessary for future requirements of setting up of courts. Recruitment of ancillary staff shall be done in a phased manner, commensurate with the number of new judicial officers recruited," CM Sheila Dikshit said.
