Aptly titled 'Women's life' the ten-day exhibition, which started on Tuesday at Triveni Kala Sangam in the capital, will culminate on March 20.
With the aim to bring out the inner nuances of the female form and mind, the artist duo is showcasing the many different moods and life of women in the exhibition. While for Jayshree the paintings are a means to discover herself for Archana, it's the sensitivity of the abstract form that's appealing.
"Every woman plays a different role. Yet who is she? This is what I search through my paintings" says Jayshree who uses interesting interplay of black, white and red colours to make the point. "Society has already decided about women's role and quality - that she should be silent, simple and sober. So my colour scheme of black and white with little red deciphers that role. Here black and white symbolise a strong statement; it's like either say 'yes' or say 'no', but it's the colour red that depicts the relationship" says Jayshree.
For Archana the appeal of the abstract art lies in nature. "It starts with nature and ends with nature. People should feel that calmness of nature especially what I feel when I work on my paintings" she says.
