NEW DELHI: The son of a former Congress MLA and his driver were arrested here allegedly with over 2.51 lakh strips of banned pseudoephedrine tablets worth Rs 6 crore, the crime branch claimed on Monday. Arvind Ahuja, the 37-year-old son of the former MLA Ashok Ahuja, and his driver Manish (34) were apprehended from near IIT in south Delhi on Sunday after a tip-off that the former is indulging in illicit supply of drugs to Mizoram, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.

The duo was produced before Additional Sessions Judge M K Nagpal who sent Ahuja to two-day police custody to facilitate the arrest of an absconding person and unearthing of a factory and godown used for manufacturing and storing pseudoephedrine tablets. Manish was sent to judicial custody till May 6. Yadav said they seized 2,51,680 strips of pseudoephedrine tablets worth Rs 6 crore. Ahuja, a graduate, owns a chemist shop in Greater Kailash.
