NEW DELHI: The lieutenant-governor, Tejendra Khanna, has approved a plan to provide eight DDA flats for setting up reception-cum-care centres that will be run by National Commission for Women, in partnership with NGOs, as temporary shelters. This was announced at the third quarterly meeting on women's security and safety.

In the aftermath of December 16 gang-rape case, it had been decided to hold quarterly reviews on safety of women.

The meeting was attended by women's organizations besides senior cops. The organizations raised concern over how coordination meetings were not held regularly at quite a few places. The LG directed cops to instruct all stations to hold these meetings without fail. Special commissioner of police Taj Hasan will now hold meetings with women groups on last Friday of each month.
