GURGAON: Haryana Tourism has invited private players to set up an adventure camp at its Damdama Tourist Complex, which will include facilities like rock climbing, parasailing, ballooning, kayaking, etc. Located on the Gurgaon-Alwar state Highway, the complex already has facilities for accommodation alongside the Damdama Lake.

According to a tourism official, the department will invite private players to set up the camp for a period of six months, to start with — from December 31.

"The private entrepreneur will have to incur all necessary expenditures for setting up and use of its equipment, bring in trained manpower for operations and safety and also carry out publicity of the facilities provided to reach out to consumers," said the official.

The department will charge a fixed rental for the set-up. "The department will carry out an auction for the same beginning next month," the official added.

The department initiated a similar venture in Dhanchiri Camp, adjacent to the Delhi-Gurgaon toll plaza, which turned out to be a failure. The facility offered camping and hot-air balloons, which ran into trouble over safety concerns from the neighbouring Air Force station. The facility, however, was not extended after its six-month contract expired.
