Hindi Natya Utsav begins in Delhi today

NEW DELHI: The capital is all set to stage the Hindi Natya Utsav at Kamani auditorium on Monday.

Titled Char Rang, the four-day event will stage 13 plays starting with Usne Kaha Tha, Paajeb, Parda, and Chief Ki Dawat on July 29. The plays are directed by Devendraraj Ankur.

The second day (July 30) will witness plays directed by M K Raina - Kafan, Faisla and Bheriye. Tirupurai Sharma directed Mulaqat, Bahri Log, Stree Subodhini and Akeli will be the highlight of July 31 while director Bansi Kaul's Deputy Collector and Zindagi aur Jonk will be staged on Aug 1.

Entry is free.

Organised by Hindi Academy, Department of Art, Culture and Languages, Government of Delhi, the utsav aims to promote Hindi literature and its rich stories among the youth. "This festival is our attempt to bring to stage some very interesting stories and depictions under the direction of some much respected directors," says Dr Harisuman Bisht, secretary, Hindi Academy.

A number of well-known short stories by eminent Hindi writers are being dramatized for the stage like Bhishm Sahni's Chief ki Dawat and writer Amar Kant's two famous short stories Zindagi aur Jonk and Deputy Collector.
