Delhi seems to have emerged as the worst city where very few can actually help an accident victim. The survey shows about 96% of bystanders in the national capital won't help victims while this percentage is also equally higher in Mumbai at 95%. The industrial city of Uttar Pradesh Kanpur also has a bad record where likelihood of getting help is as less as 10%.
The survey shows that 88% people don't help accident victims fearing legal hassle and police questioning. Detention at hospitals and having to pay for registration charges is a hurdle for 77% bystanders. The study shows that about 49% bystanders feel that they might have to bear the transportation being late.
The survey comes at a time when India's road fatality toll has crossed 1.40 lakh, the highest among all countries.
