NEW DELHI: To mark the significance of skill development as a key area, CBSE along with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organising a Global Conference on July 18, 2013 in New Delhi. The conference seeks to provide a forum to discuss and deliberate on the concept of "Skilling in Schools." CBSE is maximising its efforts to improvise on the existing courses and devise new courses that are relevant to the current economy so students can learn and understand concepts as per the current scenario.

The conference will also ensure that teachers are being well trained by CBSE and its industry partners, throughout the year, to enhance and polish their training skills. The main objectives of the conference are issues and opportunities for schools in imparting vocational education and challenges in procurement of proper staff for imparting vocational education. It also focuses on understanding the international system of vocational education in schools, the feasibility of applying the same in the market and understanding the industry perspective for creating linkages between skilling and employability.

In the meet, the Board will discuss schools' perspective on vocational education and invite their inputs for further assessment. CBSE Chairman, Vineet Joshi said: "It is essential to be able to apply the knowledge you acquire during classes. Students' focus on marks needs to move to applicability."
