According to CISF, a fire broke out in the A-Wing, 6th floor of Nirman Bhawan housing Ministry of Health, Urban Development and CPWD, at 10:55 pm on Tuesday. CISF Constable Majender Jarika noticed a smoke coming out from the electrical pnel, near room no. 651, Ministry of Health. He immediately alerted all concerned authorities and people on duty.
At once Assistant Commandant U K Saha (Bhawan I/C), Assistant Commandant Masood Hasan along-with CISF personnel of Striking Reserve Party and off duty personnel staying at Nirman Bhawan rushed to the spot as additional re-enforcement and tried to extinguish the fire with the help of fire extinguishers.
The CISF personnel also cut the electric supply and removed all the inflammable materials like tables, amirahs and wooden items kept in the gallery of sixth floor. On spotting fire and smoke CISF personnel at once intimated Delhi fire service and Delhi police.
On receiving information, five fire tenders of Delhi fire service and two PCR vans of Delhi police also reached at the spot. The fire, however, engulfed one electrical panel, three doors and a wooden table.
"Timely response by CISF personnel saved many valuable documents kept at the 6th floor, which was appreciated by various ministries housed at Nirman Bhawan," said a CISF officer.
