AIIMS forensic department gets a new head

NEW DELHI: AIIMS forensic medicine department has got a new head. Dr Sudhir Gupta, a gold medalist in medicine and leading expert in forensic medicine and pioneer in cadaver organ retrieval for transplantation, has taken charge of the department recently.

Gupta has been recognized by Scot Police in solving Bob Woolmer Cricket coach Death case and Germany coroners association invited to chair many Boards in death investigation.

He is the first Indian to be nominated as member of international advisory board of Asia pacific association of forensic toxicology.

Dr Gupta recently highlighted rape accused Ram Singh death in Tihar jail.

The new HoD says he plans to develop a forensic lab in collaboration with Delhi police and a state of art center for forensic molecular biology and criminalistics at AIIMS.
