A doctor with many birthdays

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Medical Council has written to the deputy commissioner of police, central district, to probe a curious case of one Dr Chandra who had applied for registration with documents each of which has a different date of birth. Cops have registered an FIR and are probing the matter.

The council received an application from Dr Chandra whose date of birth in Karnataka Medical Council certificate of registration is 1963 but that in the matriculation certificate is 1964 and in another is 1967. The man has submitted a MBBS certificate of Mysore University as well.

To top it all, an internal probe revealed that the same person, who is a resident of Haryana, had submitted an application two years ago as well which was brought to the police's notice. The cops said they are trying to trace the man who is at large.

The man, police said, visited the Council's office on August 22 and submitted the forged documents including the internship certificate from National Board of Examination. When NBE was contacted for confirmation of the Diplomate National Board (DNB internship medicine) certificate yissued to him, the board denied having issued any such certificate in this name. The "doctor" also submitted two different certificate of his high school matriculation with different dates of birth. "We have registered case under sections of forgery and cheating and are investigating the matter," an officer said.
