The source said the father, K D Shah, has been charged under section 202 (intentional omission of information) of IPC. Police have also taken nail samples of the four friends to determine if a scuffle had broken out between them and Anmol inside the flat. The statements of the RWA president, secretary and the resident of the adjacent flat (number 96) have been recorded.
Although senior police officers refused to speak on the matter, sources said that K D Shah had tried to mislead the police initially and concealed facts on the night of the incident. His booking indicates that police had gathered prima facie evidence against Shah as well as the four friends. They could be arrested under culpable homicide charges. Anmol had lost 900ml of blood and police said the PCR van in which he was taken to hospital was splattered with blood.
An officer said police had also informed the court that it was "too early to give the friends a clean chit" and that they were still under the radar. "We are yet to establish what exactly transpired between 11pm and midnight. The first call was made only at 12.08am. There were many who saw what happened that night but it is difficult to get independent witnesses from South Park apartment as the guards were employed by the society and had probably tried to "contain" Anmol by hitting him with batons. This is why the residents are not willing to come forward and reveal what they saw," an officer said.
