According to the family, the girl was repeatedly being harassed by Wasim (22) because of which she had stopped going out of the house, police said. Wasim threatened to kill the girl's brother if she did not accept his marriage proposal. The cops are now trying to trace Wasim who is currently absconding. "We have formed several teams to conduct raids. The accused will be arrested soon," said V V Chaudhary, additional CP (northeast).
The neighbours alleged that the girl was a Class X student and had stopped going to school because the accused often stalked her. A few days back, Wasim and his friends had also reportedly beaten up the girl's brother to prove that the threat was for real, locals said. The family alleged that the girl had stopped eating and was constantly under the fear of being attacked.
On Tuesday, the girl did not respond when she was called for lunch. When her mother went to check, she found her hanging from the ceiling fan.
