Man accused in graft case surrenders

NEW DELHI: An accused in a corruption case relating to unauthorized construction surrendered before a trial court on Tuesday. He has been remanded in CBI custody till October 22.

Kapil Deo was named in the chargesheet with nine others, including engineers of the Delhi Development Authority and the North Delhi Municipal Corporation had been on the run. He surrendered before special CBI judge Poonam Bamba. CBI had said it needed him for custodial interrogation. On October 4, the agency filed a chargesheet against the 10 accused for offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC Section 120 B (criminal conspiracy).

It named private firm executive Rajesh Agarwal as accused, his alleged associate Manish Tuli, corporation engineers Mahender Kumar Gupta, Rajesh Wadhwa, Satish Kumar, Naresh Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, R K Sethi, DDA engineer Rajesh Gupta.
