'Run for less privileged children' on Children's Day

NEW DELHI: Prayas is organizing a "Run for Children" on Children's Day on November 14, 2013. Prayas is a humanitarian, gender-sensitive and child-focused development organization with a vision to restore the lost childhood of children in need of care, protection and development.

For participants in the event its an opportunity to experience thebpleasure of running a mile with the children from underprivileged society with amazing strength and grace and try to create a niche for them in the society. Prayas is joining hands to celebrate the event with other children NGOs of Delhi, government and private schools, corporate and other organizations who have the heart to share with the less privileged among the children.

Prayas Juvenile Aid Centre Society is a national level humanitarian, child focused development organisation operating 236 centers including 22 homes/ shelters for children across the country in nine states/ UTs directly serving about 50,000 beneficiaries, marginalised children and over 14,000 youth and women addressing the multiple issues and programmes relating to child protection and juvenile justice, trafficking of children and women, vocational and life skills training, empowering women through self-help groups and income generation programmes, promotion of entrepreneurship, facilitating credit through bank linkages and also direct micro finance operations.

The Run for Children will start at 8.00 am (till 9.30 am) from Central Secretariat Ground, Vinay Marg Chanakya puri (adjacent to Nehru Park) proceed to Hyatt Hotel point on Ring Road via Leela Palace. The return lap will be through Hyatt taking 'U' turn from Mahatma Gandhi Flyover and terminate at Central Secretariat Ground.

Before and after the run, children present will put up colourful performances. At 7:45am nearly 4,000 to 5,000 children drawn from Prayas Centres, schools and NGOs are likely to be joined by CAG and former defence secretary S K Sharma, B S Bassi, the commissioner of police, Bollywood celebrities like Randeep Hooda, Adil Hussain, Richa Chadda, Raman Prawaal and many others, besides eminent personalities, public figures, artists, civil servants and hundreds of 'Friends of Prayas'.
