Corporations restart sealing drive

NEW DELHI: With assembly elections over, the civic agencies have resumed their sealing and demolition drive in the city. On Wednesday, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation and South Delhi Municipal Corporation carried out demolitions in their jurisdictions.

The North Corporation demolished illegal constructions in the Old Delhi area which is protected under the Delhi Law (Special Provisions) Act 2011. According to an official, massive unauthorized construction has taken place in the protected area. "Special Provisions Act prohibits action against structures which were constructed before 2007. But the structures that have been demolished are all new," he said.
