Abhay Deol launches the annual Godrej Properties Intra Club Golf Challenge at the Qutub Golf Course

Deol's golf date: The annual Godrej Properties Intra Club Golf Challenge is back with its third edition, and this year's event is set to be the biggest yet. Abhay Deol was present at the Qutub Golf Course, in Delhi, to launch this year's edition. Buoyed by the success of last season's event, which involved 800-odd amateur golfers from four of the leading golf clubs in the country, promoters Godrej Properties have decided to raise the tournament's profile further. This year's event will see seven city rounds, including stopovers at four new locations, and an increase in the total number of participating golfers to about 1,000. And like in 2013, the event will culminate in an international final showdown in Bangkok, where winners from each city will battle it out.

For sustainable development: The Godrej Group has been associated with sustainable development for decades. Before sustainability and green building concepts became industry buzzwords, Godrej had built a reputation for its commitment to environmental causes. The company has now extended this vision to its developments in Delhi and NCR. The company tied up last year to develop a marquee luxury project in South Delhi. This project will be an addition to its multiple projects under development in Gurgaon.

New venues: The action began on January 25, with simultaneous rounds at the Willingdon Sports Club in Mumbai, and at the Qutub Golf Course in Delhi, the first of the new venues added to this year's itinerary. The Classic Golf Resort in Gurgaon stages round three on February 1, followed by another double header on February 9, at Madras Gymkhana Club and Royal Calcutta Golf Club. Noida Golf Course, the third addition to this year's event, takes centrestage on February 14, with the club rounds winding up in Bangalore on February 21, at the Bangalore Golf Club, which takes the place of Karnataka Golf Association this time.

Finals in Bangkok: Girish Shah, executive vice-president, Godrej Properties, said, "After the success of last year's Golf Challenge, we're happy to host this year's edition. This event encourages young golfers across seven cities to participate and get an opportunity to play the finals in Bangkok."
