Present at the event was Egyptian ambassador to India, Khaled El Bakly, who said, "We're happy to be a part of this collaboration. Everything starts with an idea, and this idea by Jaya Jaitly has made the event a reality. Egypt and India have a long history together, and we hope to write new stories about our relations."
The guests were treated to traditional Egyptian snacks and sweets. Mona El Bakly, wife of the ambassador, was seen happily answering people's queries about the different items being served. Other than the Indian stalls, the craft bazaar will also have stalls by different Egyptian artistes selling traditional nagada scarves, khayameya wall hangings and also an artiste presenting ancient Egyptian drawings on papyrus.
