NEW DELHI: Resident doctors at AIIMS will observe 'black badge day' on Tuesday to support the ongoing strike by doctors in Kanpur and medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh against the alleged high-handedness of city police and administration.

"There have been instances of doctors being manhandled by relatives of patients which is wrong. We do our best to treat a patient. We will wear black badges on Tuesday to oppose such behaviour," said Shashank Pooniyak, general secretary, AIIMS RDA.

The IMA, on Monday, issued a statement saying, "Assault on doctors is highly condemnable and shameful acts by miscreants who, under the garb of emotion and sentiments, torture doctors and ransack medical establishments." It has put eight demands, including immediate revocation of all charges against the arrested medical students in Kanpur and the arrest of MLA Irfan Solanki. tnn
