NEW DELHI: A 19-year-old student from Manipur was attacked by four robbers in northwest Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar on Sunday night.

Police said Chan Pamai, who studies at a private institute in the capital, was walking to his friend's house in Gandhi Nagar around 10.30pm when he was stopped by four men. In his complaint, Chan told police that the men, who appeared to be unarmed, asked him to hand over his wallet and chain. When he refused and tried to run away, one of them hit him on his head.

Despite being hit, Chan continued to hold on to his belongings and a struggle ensued. He said the men ran away when they heard a motorcycle coming towards the spot. The passerby, Puneet, took Chan to his friend's house, who in turn informed the police.

"A case has been registered and we are looking into the matter," said N Gnana Sambdan, DCP (northwest). Cops said several suspects have been rounded up for questioning.
