3-week parole for ex-cop Rathi

NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Friday granted three weeks' parole to former ACP S S Rathi who is serving life term along with nine other policemen for killing two businessmen after mistaking them for gangsters in 1997.

Justice Gita Mittal allowed Rathi to stay out of jail for 21 days so that he can sit for his MSc (forensic science) second-year exam.

"Considering the facts as well as in view of the status report filed by concerned authorities, as the petitioner was earlier also granted parole, therefore, the relief sought by the petitioner is granted," the judge said.
