Govt doctors oppose biometric attendance

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government's plan to introduce biometric attendance system in its hospitals has become a point of contention between the doctors and authorities. Faculty members at Lok Nayak hospital, where this system is being introduced, have registered their protest against the move in a letter to the lieutenant governor recently.

"The introduction of biometric system will rip away the much needed flexibility and reduce us to drones. A biometric system works effectively for those with fixed working hours and faculty members can't be included. Biometric attendance is not the norm in any office governed by Central Health Service, a cadre we belong to," said a senior doctor.
