The incident took place at around 9pm on Saturday when the accused, Raman Kant (26), who was in a Ritz along with two teenagers, was apprehended by Manna Ram (26) for driving on the wrong side of the road.
An argument ensued when Manna Ram told the accused to take a different route following which the accused reversed his car and ran over the constable.
Raman dragged the constable for over 200 meters, police said. The constable died on the spot.
Police chased the car and arrested Raman Kant and the two minors. Kant has been booked for murder under Section 302 of IPC. Further investigations are on.
Police honour was given to the traffic police constable at Toda Pur Traffic Police Line on Sunday. The family will receive compensation as per the rules.
