Trio guilty of rape

NEW DELHI: A trial court has convicted three men of raping a minor, who was later forced into prostitution. Besides the trio, two women were also convicted of abetting the minor's rape.

The court rejected the contention of the accused that the minor was involved in prostitution of her own will and convicted Ajay, Sanjay, his wife Ritu, Kamlesh and Vikramjeet for various offences, including rape, abetment of rape, buying and selling a minor for prostitution and kidnapping.

The court will pronounce the punishment later this month. Additional sessions judge Rajneesh Kumar Gupta held Sanjay and Ajay guilty of rape, constrain to illegal act, selling the 14-year-old girl for prostitution and kidnapping. Vikramjeet was convicted for the offence of rape. Ritu and Kamlesh were held guilty of abetment to rape.
