NEW DELHI: Four Aam Aadmi Party activists, who were pasting posters for an upcoming party rally here, were arrested on Monday on the charge of defacing public property, a police officer said.

The activists, all aged between 20-30 years, were booked under various sections of the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007.

AAP claimed that pasting posters was not a "crime".

Other political parties also paste posters but why do police not take action against them? an AAP leader questioned.

Police said the AAP activists were found pasting the posters in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar area early on Monday for the rally scheduled on August 3 at Jantar Mantar.

"They were found pasting the posters at restricted places and were taken to the police station by the patrolling team and put under arrest," a police official said.
