Man killed, wife and lover held

NEW DELHI: Police have cracked the mysterious case of an unidentified body found in a jungle in north Delhi on June 9. The man has been identified as 48-year-old Raghvendra Singh, a supervisor at a private company, who was murdered allegedly by his wife and her lover. Singh's wife, Neetu Singh (31), and Vijay Singh (24) have been arrested.

The crime was discovered when police received a call about a body lying in Inderlok area. The postmortem was conducted on June 17. "The report described the cause of death as a crania-cerebral damage by the impact of a blunt force. A case of murder was registered at Sarai Rohilla police station and an investigation initiated by a team led by SHO Anil Dureja," said Madhur Verma, deputy commissioner of police, north district.

At least 5,000 Hue & Cry notices were distributed all over the NCR. The cops got their first lead when one Brij Bhushan claimed the photo in the notices was of his brother Raghvendra Singh.

Call details of Singh's family members, including wife, led to a breakthrough. Singh's wife broke down upon interrogation. She claimed to have recently fallen in love with Vijay Singh, who was well-off. She said her husband used to beat her up after learning of the affair, so she conspired with Vijay. On the intervening night of June 8 and 9, Neetu took Singh to the jungle in Inderlok area on the pretext of having a party.

Vijay offered Singh drinks and then attacked him with the liquor bottle. "We have recovered the broken pieces of the bottle, bloodstained clothes and the two mobile phones used by Neetu," DCP Verma said.
