In her statement, the girl told police she came to the city in January with a man who had promised to marry her and get her a job so that she could send money home to her parents.
However, after reaching the capital, he handed her over to his uncle who ran a placement agency in Chirag Dilli area.
She claimed she was sexually assaulted by the placement agency owner before he sent her off to work as maid for a businessman.
On September 16, the girl's father and representatives from Bachpan Bachao Aandolan filed a missing complaint at Anand Vihar police station. "A special team led by SHO (Anand Vihar) Gajender Singh traced the telephone number from which the girl had called her father and raided the house located in Surya Niketan area," said Ajay Kumar, DCP (east).
The girl was produced before the Child Welfare Committee. On the basis of her statement, a case of abduction and human trafficking under IPC, along with sections under the Juvenile Justice Act and POCSO Act has been registered and her employer has been arrested. The man who brought her to the city and the placement agency owner have also been arrested.
The abductor confessed that he and his uncle Jehangir used to lure girls from West Bengal and Assam on the pretext of jobs and later sold them off to placement agencies for anything between Rs 5,000 to 20,000. The agency owners used to first exploit them sexually and then send them off to work as domestic helps.
