The incident was reported around 10pm from Sector 16 when the victim, Baburam, had come home drunk and abused his wife. Neighbours said that this was a routine affair. Babulal drove an autorickshaw.
On Sunday, his son got involved in an argument between his parents. The boy picked up a knife from the kitchen and stabbed his father on the chest and abdomen, the cops added. Hearing the cries, the neighbours came running. The man was taken to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead.
His wife told police that Babulal tried to throttle her when their son intervened. A team from the K N Katju Marg police station arrived later in the night and apprehended the boy from near a gurdwara early on Monday.
