Police said Anjana was having dinner with her family on Tuesday night when she received a phone call and went to her first-floor room to attend it. When she did not return even after an hour, her mother went looking for her around 10pm, found her hanging from the fan and raised an alarm. The family rushed her to Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj where she was declared dead. The hospital informed the police. The body was taken to AIIMS for post-mortem and handed over to the family on Wednesday morning.
The suicide note kept next to the TV in her room said: "Dear mummy and daddy, I don't want to hurt anyone. Nobody is to blame for my death.—Anjana." The cops are examining the note and also looking into her phone calls details to establish the reason for her taking the extreme step.
Anjana had studied at Delhi Public School, R K Puram, and completed her MBA from Amity University in 2008. She was working as a manager with a multinational company based in Gurgaon. Her family has told the cops that they had planned to fix her marriage in the next few months. She has an elder brother and a sister, both of whom are married.
