The 17-member committee has been set up following a direction from urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu to take necessary measures to improve mobility in the national capital.
A government release said, "The minister has taken a serious view of media reports highlighting traffic congestion on Delhi roads for various reasons and sought corrective interventions on priority."
The committee will take into account all the technical, financial and administrative aspects on 'how to decongest Delhi' and will submit the report along with proposed action plan by the first week of November.
The committee, to be chaired by the UD secretary, will have railway board chairman, defence secretary and secretaries of road transport and home affairs or their representatives as members. The other members will be the NHAI chairman, PWD and transport secretaries of Delhi government, DDA vice-chairman, member-secretary of NCR Planning Board, Delhi police commissioner, DMRC managing director, director of Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure Policy & Engineering (UTTIPEC), NDMC chairman and commissioners of three municipal bodies. The DTC managing director and a few others will be the invitees to the panel.
