This Sunday saw students from various schools and colleges turn up as enthus iastic participants at Raahgiri Day, organized by Delhi Police and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) along with Embarq India and supported by The Times of India. Dressed in school uniforms and colourful kurtas and duppattas, the students presented nukkad nataks on the streets of Connaught Place.Participants included students from Vivekananad College, Pitampura, Sri Aurobindo College, New Era Public School, Pitampura, Springdales School, Pusa Road and Tagore International School.

Shymolee Katyal, a student of Springdales School, Pusa Road, said, "It's nice to be part of the Raahgiri. It is my first time here. We will be presenting a street play highlighting social issues like women empowerment and corruption." Neeta Pandey , music teacher at New Era Public School, Pitampura, said, "The students are overwhelmed with the crowd's response here and they want to come back again." A group of students from Sri Aurobindo college presented a nuk kkad natak based on how to save the life of a person wh en he meets with an acci dent through a new mobile application.

Pia Roy, student of English at Sri Au robindo, said, "It is amazing to see the huge pa rticipation of youngsters at Raa hgiri. I think Raahgiri is a new movement that has brought in change vement that has brought in change in the capital. It would be nice too see many more Raahgiri Days being hosted in other parts of the cities too."

The event had Muktesh Chander, additional commissioner of police, Delhi Traffic Police, in attendance. He handed over the awards for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Chitrakala competition organized at the Delhi Traffic Police stage area. "I have been coming to Raahgiri regularly , and each time I come here I see a new change. It is remarkable to see so many young kids all up and awake on a Sunday morning making the effort to be part of the event. We have taken a lot of new initiatives in promoting road safety on Delhi roads and we want the kids to make their parents aware about road safety," he said.
