NEW DELHI: The special committee formed by the Action Committee for Unaided Recognized Public Schools has framed guidelines for nursery admissions in the private schools of Delhi. While this lot is similar to the ones "suggested" by the National Progressive Schools' Conference last week -- they have suggested the same dates, for instance -- this one also "suggests" imposing a cap on the number of seats to go to categories such as sibling and alumni (20% and 5% respectively).

The criteria this guideline suggests include distance (or neighbourhood), siblings, alumni, staff-ward; it also offers a batch of "school-specific criteria" including girl child, minority background, single parent. However, the guideline adds, "schools are further advised to limit the percentage of seats in each category to enable a significant number of seats being made available in the general category" and specifies that a minimum of 25% seats should go to general category.

This guideline also categorically includes a 3% reservation for children with special needs within the 25% EWS quota.
