Survivor was not drunk: Friend

NEW DELHI: A friend of the Uber rape survivor, who had booked a cab for her on the day of the incident, on Tuesday rejected the defence counsel's allegation that the survivor and he had consumed alcohol on the night of December 5, 2014.

Ayush Dabas, the survivor's friend, also identified accused Shiv Kumar Yadav as the driver of the vehicle. He dismissed the defence counsel's allegation that he had a fight with the 26-year-old woman or physically assaulted her. He told additional sessions judge Kaveri Baweja that he, along with the woman and other friends, had gone to Gurgaon that night and while returning home, he had booked the Uber cab for her.

Dabas told the court that he came to know about the incident when the woman called her at 2am. "It is wrong to suggest that I had spoken to the woman before 2am or that I had threatened her not to disclose to anyone that I had physically assaulted her," he said.

Dabas said he had received confirmation from the company on the app with the details of the driver and the car. When the cab arrived , he said he had verified the details and identified the driver through the app.
