According to senior party sources, BJP always had 34-37% vote share during its best performances in the city whether it was for municipal elections and for assembly polls. Out of this, a big chunk came from the city's middle-class population. But the latest worry for the party is that AAP seems to be thriving on middle-class support and has dented the BJP's vote share.
Therefore, the main challenge for BJP for the February 7 polls is to ensure that its traditional middle-class supporters go to the polling booth and cast their votes. The party has asked its booth level workers to ensure that voters reach polling booths.
The difference between the polls this time from the earlier ones is that Congress, one of the big players in the past, has diminished to an 'also ran' and AAP has turned the Delhi elections into a bipolar show.
