The maximum temperature on Thursday was 29.3 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal, while the minimum was 17 degrees, six degrees above normal, ending in the rain.
Delhi has been witnessing maximum temperatures that are 3-4 degrees Celsius above normal and minimum temperatures that are 3-5 degrees above normal for the last few days. The forecast for Friday is partly cloudy sky and very light rain or thundershowers.
During the past three days, the weather in northwest India had been affected by active western disturbances, according to the meteorological department. The western Himalayan region, particularly Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal, have since been experiencing moderate rain and snowfall.
The rainfall over the northwestern plains till now was insignificant, other than in parts of Punjab. Warm and moist easterly wind blowing over northwest and central India had seen temperatures over these regions rise by 1-5 degrees above normal which led to the rainfall in Delhi, said Met officials.
