Teen dead, cops suspect honour killing

NEW DELHI: A 17-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances in northwest Delhi's Netaji Subhash place area on Thursday morning. Although police have not ruled out involvement of an outsider, they are also probing the honour killing angle. Sources said that during the autopsy, doctors found that the girl was pregnant. Her father and brothers are being questioned.

The girl's family, however, claimed that they were unaware of her pregnancy. Police said that the family suspects a local youth to be involved in the incident. They claimed that she befriended the boy a few years back but was warned to stay away from him. The body was found lying face down at the base of a staircase of her brother's house. The main door leading out of the house was also open. Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl was hit on the face and then strangled.
