The deadly disease on Saturday claimed the life of Jitendra Raghvanshi, a theatre personality and former head of the foreign languages department of Agra University . He had been receiving treatment at Safdarjung Hospital. Raghvanshi is survived by his wife Bhavna, a son and a daughter.
"His death, however, will not be counted in Delhi's figure for deaths due to the disease," a health department official said.
"As he hails from Agra, his death will not be counted in the death toll for Delhi despite him succumbing to H1N1 influenza virus at a hospital here," Charan Singh, additional director in-charge of public health, said. "A total of 143 people were tested for the H1N1 influenza virus of which 21 turned positive. No fresh death has been reported today ," he said. However, officials claimed that the number of cases have started to go down over the last few days.
