The incident was reported around 12pm. The entire incident has been captured in the CCTV footage, it shows that Manish Goyal, a mobile SIM card and biscuits distributor, along with his employee Devender Singh were going to a bank in Babarpur area to deposit the cash when the robbers attacked them from behind.
They were carrying cash in two bags. According to police, one bag had Rs 29.5lakh cash and the other had Rs 2.5lakh.
The men came from behind and snatched the two bags from them. The CCTV footage shows the robbers running towards the bike where their third accomplice was waiting for them.
Meanwhile, they also shot in the air to scare the crowd, said a police official. The robbers fired seven rounds.
When the public outside the bank started following the robbers, they again fired at them. One businessman, Rohit Agrawal (27) was shot at when he tried to stop the robber by pulling him off his bike. The robbers fled from the spot with the cash bags.
Agrawal was rushed to the Guru Teg Bahadur hospital. Agrawal's condition is stable now and he is out of danger, said a senior police official.
A case under IPC section 390 (robbery) and 307 (attempt to murder) has been registered at Jyoti Nagar police station.
