He is considered to be the most dreaded extortionist in the past decade. He did not even spare the legislators and demanded protection money from them. Former Narela MLA Jaswant Singh Rana was one of his victim from who he had demanded Rs 50 lakh. He had threatened to kill him and family otherwise.
Several Congress MLA's had pleaded to then CM Sheila Dixit for protection.
Bawana is involved in more than 100 crimes and was recently booked under stringent MCOCA. He is the nephew of ex Congress MLA Rambir Shokeen.
Bawana had taken over the reigns of criminals after gabgster Neetu Dabodia was shot dead in an encounter by the special cell in 2013.
Special CP special cell SN Shrivastava confirmed his arrest to TOI. "A team led by DCP Sanjeev Yadav arrested Bawana from Mundka road around 3.45am on a tip-off," Shrivastava said.
Bawana's mother and brother Pankaj were arrested at IGI airport in connection with possessing cartridges.
