CM Sheila Dikshit inaugurates new under ground reservoir at Chattarpur

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated a 3.2 million gallon capacity Under Ground Reservoir (UGR) at Chattarpur on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion. At present, water in the command areas of Chattarpur UGR is supplied by Delhi Jal Board through tubewells and tanker services. The area has 325 tubewells which are used to meet meet the water demand of this area.

The new UGR and Booster Pumping Station, Inlet and peripheral mains lines of 36 kilometers have been constructed at a cost of about Rs 70 crore and will provide filtered water supply through pipe lines to about 4 lakh people.

In the initial phase, water from Chattarpur UGR will be supplied in the command areas on alternate days in order to maintain sustainability in the system. Two of the three peripheral water mains are being commissioned at present. The third one will be commissioned by March 2013.
