NEW DELHI: The Department of History and Culture, Jamia Millia Islamia is organizing a lecture on "Popular Urdu Memoirs as a Source for the History of Pre-1857 Delhi" by Swapna Liddle. It is scheduled to happen on November 8, 2012, at 12:15 pm at the seminar room of Department of History and culture.
"Swapna Liddle wrote a Ph.D. theses on nineteenth century Delhi in the Department of History and Culture at Jamia Millia Islamia. She has a special interest in the historic landscape of Delhi and the need to preserve old buildings. She volunteers for various organizations to increase public awareness in this field," says the press statement released by the university.
Liddle is currently Co-Convenor of the Delhi Chapter of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (Intach). She has authored the book Delhi: 14 Historic Walks which describes the walking routes of Delhi covering a number of heritage sites. The sites features include Qutub Minar, Red Fort and Humayun's Tomb.
