Poultry training course for Tihar inmates

NEW DELHI: Around 40 inmates of Tihar Jail will be part of a six-day poultry training course has been started in jail number 2. The program has been sponsored by Central Poultry Development Organization under the Ministry of Agriculture and Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries.'

"The participants will be exposed to all management aspects of poultry species including chicken, turkey and duck farming, local broiler variety (white pekin), guinea fowl, layer variety (khaki campbell), goose, quail, emu and ostrich," said Sunil Gupta, Tihar law officer and spokesperson.

The participants who successfully complete the training will be given certificates by Central Poultry Development Organization and will also be paid Rs 600 as stipend. "Under this scheme, released prisoners will also be eligible for government subsidy, if they want to start poultry farm for their rehabilitation," added Gupta.
