Cinema float wows crowd

Spectators were thrilled to see some of their favourite Bollywood characters walk along with uniformed soldiers during the Republic Day parade. There was Sholay's 'Gabbar Singh' , superhero 'Krishh' , the Matrixinspired cop from Dabbang, and many others. Celebrating the centenary of Bolywood , the tableau of the information and broadcasting ministry depicted mainstream cinema. The tableau had old movie scenes running on projector screens.

This, along with 13 state tableaus , marching contingents and an air show enthralled the audience that had gathered at the India Gate lawns since early Saturday morning. The UP tableau rolled onto Rajpath with showers of colour representing Latthmar Holi. The Railways' tableau garnered a lot of attention when it passed by with its trademark announcement 'Kripya dhyaan dijiye' .

To mark 150 years of Swami Vivekananda , West Bengal chose to dedicate its jhanki to the spiritual leader. The first state tableau to roll onto Rajpath depicted his ideas, followed by tableaux from Kerala , HP, Tripura, Bihar and other states.

The CPWD tableau made a fragrant entry as it was decorated with fresh flowers . Students from three Delhi schools - LK International from Bawana, Government Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Amalwas and Kendriya Vidyalaya in Masjid Moth - also performed.
