The apex court bench headed by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir sought the report after Mukesh's counsel ML Sharma told the court that he was not being allowed to meet Mukesh as he was being tortured in custody.
The apex court also asked the fast track court to ascertain if Mukesh wanted to continue with Raja Raman as his lawyer at the lower court.
The court sought this clarification after another lawyer, VK Anand, too claimed to represent the family members of the gang-rape accused.
Seeking the report from the fast track court, the apex court directed the listing of the matter Tuesday (Jan 29).
The court sought the report from the fast track court in the course of the hearing of a petition by Mukesh for transfer of trial in the case to either Mathura in Uttar Pradesh or Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu as the prevailing atmosphere in Delhi was not conducive for free and fair trial.
