Police officials said the incident, prima facie, appeared to be an accident as Sharma had injuries only on his face. However, police have registered a case of murder and are awaiting postmortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Police said Sharma lived with his parents in R-block of the area. "Sharma's wife and son have been living separately since many years. He earlier worked as an engineer at the institute of Haryana government and had been staying at home for the last two years," an officer said.
On Sunday, Sharma left home at 7pm after informing his father, Madan Sharma, that he was going out for an evening walk in the nearby park but did not return. The incident came to light on Monday around 6am when a morning walker found a dead body in the bushes in Deer Park and called police.
The cops rushed to the spot. There were blood spots on Sharma's face and a tooth was broken. His spectacles were lying nearby and there was blood on them as well. The body was taken to GTB Hospital where postmortem was conducted. The body was handed over to the family for last rites.
