NEW DELHI: After a decadelong dispute between the Delhi government and the National Building Construction Corporation over their share in a 42-acre plot close to Ghitorni Metro station, both parties are inching towards a resolution. The Union urban development ministry has suggested that the two sides would have 50:50 share of the land, which would be utilized for both residential and commercial purposes by the PSU construction major. Sources said the new formula for compromise was proposed after UD minister Kamal Nath intervened to ensure optimum utilization of the land lying idle for years. Officials said the fresh proposal was put before the Delhi government when CM Sheila Dikshit met Nath on Monday.

Earlier, there was a proposal to give 10 acres of land to the Delhi government, and the rest to remain with the NBCC. But Delhi government had turned down the offer. According to the new proposal, Delhi government would get almost the entire residential component of the new development whereas NBCC would own the commercial premises. Sources said the residential and commercial development would be in the ratio of 70:30. The Delhi government has sought one week to respond to the Centre.

Since the land falls along the Metro line and is a part of the proposed Transport Oriented Corridor, the FAR will be substantially higher.
