Missing boy found dead inside drain

NEW DELHI: A child who had been missing for the past 19 days was found dead under mysterious circumstances. The boy, Luv, had been missing from east Delhi since March 24. The body was found in a drain on Thursday morning and has been sent for postmortem, police said.

The one-and-a-half-yearold child was last seen at the Indra park near Mandawali. It seems that he had slipped and fallen inside a drain adjoining the park. The family blames the municipal corporation for failing to put proper slabs across the drain, said an officer.

On March 24, the east district police received a complaint from Narottam Gupta, a shopowner, that his son had gone missing. After this, a case of kidnapping was registered . On Thursday, a dog fell inside the same drain. When locals went to rescue the animal, they noticed the child's body. "We have registered a case and the probe is on. If the municipal body is found responsible, we will take action,'' added the officer.
