The 75 posters, divided into three parts, are the works of 15 renowned Japanese graphic designers such as Yusaku Kamekura, Kiyoshi Awazu, Kazumasa Nagai, Ikko Tanaka, Makoto Nakamura, Mitsuo Katsui, Shigeo Fukuda, Masayoshi Nakajo, Tadanori Yokoo, Keisuke Nagatomo, Koichi Sato, Shin Matsunaga, Yukimasa Okumura, Masatoshi Itoda and Makoto Saito.
On display till July 31, the exhibition delves into the 'bubble economy' period of Japan that saw an increased awareness towards environmental problems and globalization leading to the creation of graphic posters influenced by these developments. Entry is free.
"In this exhibition, we collected the works of those designers who worked closely with such developments in the society. Through these posters, we would like the audience to enjoy the works of world-famous graphic designers and at the same time get a glimpse of the social conditions in Japan at that time," says Shailey Goyal, assistant programme officer, Japan Foundation.
Another highlight of the event includes a line-up of month-long film screenings under the theme 'Do you know Okinawa in Japan?'
The first film to be screened is Nabbie No Koi: Nabbie's Love on July 13 followed by A Midsummer's Okinawa Dream on July 22 and 27. Also, a spate of films are lined-up at Gurgaon's Epicentre including Kill (July 17) and Throne of Blood (July 23).
