Also present at the event was 12-year-old Payal Samariya, the face of the campaign, who impressed everyone with her confidence. She told us, "Bade hoke, I want to be a doctor. Meri friend ko dengue hua tha, aur phir uska school miss hua tha bahut time ke liye. Tab maine dengue ke baare mein pata kiya, aur apne school mein logon ko bataya." Payal also shot a video for the campaign, and when we asked her about how her friends reacted to seeing her on TV, she replied, "Unko abhi pata nahi hai. Surprise hai unke liye."
At the launch, Sonali said, "As a mother, I do not want children like Payal to suffer from diseases like dengue. It can happen to anyone at any age, and we have to take preventive measures to fight this. Let us fight against mosquito-borne diseases and help protect our families."
As part of an attempt to spread awareness about the causes and prevention of the disease, the organizing team of the campaign also launched a special helpline number, 1800180181818, which started functioning from September 20. Consumers can also discuss prevention tips with health experts, and visit www.Fight-DengueForYourFamily.in to get more information about the campaign.
